The cooler weather has tricked some people into thinking that fall is finally upon us and has the best of us decorating and cooking our favourite autumn recipes. Here is one of mine!
Spiced Applesauce Bread
Bring in the flavours of autumn with this easy to make bread.

1 1/2 Cup all-purpose flour
1 Tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 Tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 Tsp ground allspice
1/2 Tsp baking soda
1/2 Tsp salt
1/4 Tsp baking powder
1 beaten egg
1 Cup sugar
1 1/2 Cup chunky applesauce (if you can’t find chunky just use whatever kind you like)
1/4 Cup cooking oil
1/4 Cup packed brown sugar
3 Tbsp all-purpose flour
2 Tbsp butter
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease the bottom and 1/2 inch up sides of an 8x4x2-inch loaf pan; set aside. In a medium bowl combine the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, baking soda, salt, and baking powder. Make a well in center of flour mixture; set aside.
In another medium bowl combine egg, sugar, applesauce and oil. Add wet mixture all at once to flour mixture. Stir just until moistened (batter should be lumpy). Spoon batter into prepared pan. Sprinkle with Streusel topping.
In a small bowl combine 1/4 cup packed brown sugar and 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour. Cut in 2 tablespoons butter until mixture resembles course crumbs.
Bake for 50 to 55 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Remove from pan. Cool completely on a wire rack. Wrap and store overnight before slicing.
