A couple weeks ago my mom took me away for the weekend to Ottawa for a little girls getaway! The first night I spent at my parents I took my camera around their farm and took some pictures. If it hadn’t been so cold I probably would have spent more time out there but I wussed out and came in early.
One of the best memories I have from growing up on the farm was the when the snow covered fields would melt and turn into mini lakes across the property. I would throw on my barn boots (rubber boots) and spend hours splashing around in the water, observing the grass underfoot, singing and using my imagination. So, it was so nice to get out and experience a little bit of nostalgia, just the sounds of nature and I.
The next morning mom and I headed into the city for our getaway but not before we stopped at the new Tanger Outlets in Kanata for a “browse”. Well our browse turned into a couple hours of swooning and drooling over Coach purses, Nike wear, and getting a rockin’ deal on some bras at La Vie en Rose!
After, we headed downtown to check into the Fairmont Chateau Laurier and drop off our stuff so we could go take a look around the Rideau Centre and most especially NORDSTROM!
We perused the Byward Market and eventually ended up at the Keg for supper, which was so delicious! On our walk back to the hotel we walked pass this store with the cutest shoes in the window and had to stop in. The store, called Fluevog Shoes, had such a cool design concept and history, plus the shoes were to die for. I couldn’t resist snapping a pic.
Now we’ve stayed at the Chateau Laurier before but this time we had no little ones, nowhere in particular that we needed to be so I took the opportunity to show myself around.
