50's Housewife

A ‘1950’s Housewife’ Weekly Cleaning List – Monday (Kitchen)

“You never know what you have, until you clean your room.”

The house that runs smoothly is one that is run by a schedule.  Monday is a day to put your house back into its groove after the weekend, I always find the best place to start is in the kitchen.

Monday – Kitchen

  q  Complete daily routine
q  Apply oven cleaner and let sit
q  Dust window shades, sills and baseboards
q  Clean and wash 2 cupboards and 2 drawers in a weekly rotation
q  Wipe down cabinet doors and walls behind sink and stove
q  Wipe down all appliances
q  Clean fridge: inside/out
q  Clean stove: inside/out
q  Wash garbage bin
q  Clean drain
q  Wash or beat rugs
q  Sweep, vacuum and mop floor

The very first thing I usually do in the morning is clean around the sink area, I always find it helps to have it cleaned up before I start loading it back up again.

I usually fill a small bucket with hot soapy water and a microfibre cloth and wipe down all surfaces after I give them a light dusting.  I do this for every room except the bathroom where I use Lysol wipes.

Oh My!! Thank you so much for this!! I have been aspiring to become more of a “modern” 50’s housewife—this is so inspiring and informative!! This information is absolutely perfect for a beginner as myself (though I’ve been married 19 years…)
